Young Learners examinations have three levels: Starters, Movers and Flyers.
They are designed for children aged 7 to 12. The examinations have been developed under the principle of increasing complexity so that children start with simple words and phrases at the Starters level and gradually approach more complex linguistic units of the levels Movers and Flyers.
Cambridge examinations for children – YLE Tests – are based on development of language skills: listening, reading, writing and speaking, which is checked in the relevant parts of the examination. Every child goes up for a verbal part that is graded by a qualified examiner. In preparation for the examinations, children learn to actively use the English language, to speak it.
